An European first: Heart shaped Cantaloupe- and watermelons
The fact that we at Rungis can get a bit crazy about heart shaped cucumbers and square watermelons you already know. But today we even take it one step further.
From today on, Valentine´s Day, we start with the pre-sale of the very first heart shaped Cantaloupe melons and heart shapes watermelons to ever be sold in Europe. Delivery of this Japanese specialty will take place at Mother’s Day, that’s something you can show up with!
The melons aren’t just pretty to look at, but they also have a very good taste
The melons aren’t just pretty to look at, but they also have a very good taste. The shape is achieved by placing the, not yet completely full grown, melon in a transparant mold. The melon will eventually grow in this mold. The challenge is to make sure the growth won’t be disturbed to much by the mold, allowing the melon to get sweet, soft and aromatic.
