Zealandic seaweed crisps with the 'Zeker Zeeuws' quality mark

Zealandic seaweed crisps are super crispy and have a clear and delicious seaweed taste.

Everyday, at low tide, Jan Kruijsse walks over the tidal shores of the Oosterschelde nature reserve to harvest red horns seaweed, sea lettuce weed, irishmoss, Japanese sargassum and when it’s the right season also wakame seaweed. So the very best seaweed comes from our own country. Rungis daily delivers the fresh harvest at the restaurants. The taste really is extraordinary.

De development continues: Jan Kruijsse has developed the Zealandic seaweed crisps. the crisps are made out of bladderwrack, this particular weed even keeps its taste at high temperatures. Jan cuts the bladderwrack from the Oosterschelde. Zealandic seaweed crisps are super crispy and have a clear and delicious seaweed taste.

They’re very suitable for immediate enjoyment. But they can also be a perfect base for finger food, for example in combination with tartar of muller, lobster or salty vegetables. Ingredients that can all be found in and around the Oosterschelde.

Zeker Zeeuws

The seaweed crisps have the ‘Zeker Zeeuws’ quality mark. This is an independently recognized regional quality mark that guarantees the product is truly from Zeeland. It means the product is grown, cultivated or produced in Zeeland with Zealandic resources. And this is also done in a sustainable way, with respect for the environment, people and the animals.

Fortunately, there’s a constant supply at Rungis, because we sometimes need three hundred kohlrabi. Not just for De Librije, but also for Bar Senang: fruit and vegetables are wel represented on the menu there too.

I don’t want to waste a lot of time on finding the best quality products every day. With Rungis it’s also nice we can plan ahead, and: a deal is a deal. That’s also Rungis.
